Aktivitas Tradisi Mabebasan Umat Hindu (Suatu Tinjauan Etis Dan Estetis)

Abstract

The mebebasan tradition is a social activity of Balinese people that aims at discovering the hidden potentials so that the meaning and values within can be reyealed. The meaning and values will be used as a guide in. social life. Likewise people who engage in these mebebasan actiyities may appreciate the literary works by reading, singing, translating and discussing their philosophicalvalues. The activity of mebebasan tradition contains ethical value that is reflected in building the human character and developing the sense of respect. This activity also can create social harmony so that mind can be directed toward the purity in order to improve sraddha (faith) and bhakti (devotion) to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. Moreover it contains aesthetical value that is applied by literature and thither in developing aesthetical expression so that it can be used as a mean of communication through the ages. This activity is also a form of cultural conservation that is inherited by the former generation used as a guide to life in society.
