BUDAYA LITERASI SEBAGAI OPTIMALISASI PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI SEKOLAH DASAR
Abstract
Learning a foreign language requires a process with high dedication. Thus, exercise frequency becomes the key to success. In the process of learning English based on literacy, there are four levels of literacy that must be emphasized, namely: performative, functional, informational, and epistemic level. The emphasis on each of these levels is the principle of literacy from the oral cycle to the writing. This means that oral communication skills are a requirement for building written communication skills. Cultural literacy can be utilized as the optimization of learning English in elementary school. It should merely be understood that cultural cultivation of literacy should be done continuously by applying certain tricks and extra guidance with patience. In literacy education, it should be remembered that the involvement of interpretation, collaboration, conversion, cultural knowledge, problem-solving, self-reflection, and language users should be given full attention.
