Abstract

Character education is an educational process that aims at cultivating good values ​​to children in accordance with the national culture in the aspect of knowledge, attitudes and actions, as well as to anticipate the symptoms of moral crisis and play a significant role in order to prepare the younger generation as the nation's future. To achieve this, the roles of family and school are significant. The family is the first and primary education for a child, and therefore it is the responsibility of parents to pay attention to the growth and development of children as a whole. The elementary school is a place of first formal education so that the teacher's role is very important in imparting character education so that they have strong character base for further education. Character education in primary schools should be implemented holistically on aspects of intellectual, emotional, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual which can be done through integration with the subjects, the integration with local content, cultural development of schools and learning centers, learning activities, and through extracurricular activities.
