PERAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DALAM PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER

Abstract

Indonesian Education nowdays directs the intellectual ability and rarely emphasis on emotional intelligence. An emotional intelligence teaches about integrity, honesty, commitment, vision, creativity, mental endurance, wisdom, justice, principles of trust, and self-control. Goleman (2002) says that psychologists agree that IQ only accounts for 20 percent of the factors that determine success, while the remaining 80 percent comes from other factors, including what is called as emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence helps the students to understand themselves and their surroundings appropriately, confident, not easily discouraged, and be able to form the characters of learners
