PENDEKATAN HOLISTIK DALAM MENGATASI KRISIS KARAKTER DI INDONESIA
Abstract
Indonesia has been confronting the character crisis because the crisis has come to all levels of Indonesian society which causes demoralization in education. Moreover, education has an important role to build up human being to be a good character man. Education has been dealing with great challenges to keep running the one of importances of education that is as the creator of Indonesian generation with good characters.
The sources of the crisis have been multi-dimensional since it has covered all aspects of Indonesian society. The crisis has occurred in all levels of lives; those are in level of family, school, society as well as nation. The life practice has lost its important values needed to build the character. The power which is determined by the values of honesty, self-confidence, appreciation to unity, enthusiasm for learning and working which they are growing down. Actually, these characteristics have an important role as a basic capital to solve some big problems that grow to be the root of the Indonesian’s regression in recent years. The regression includes corruption, continuous-horizontal conflicts, feeling as the inferior nation, and low grade of the enthusiasm for learning and working.
Character education can be implemented with holistic approach. The process of educating does not only deal with cognitive factor, but also emphasizes on the development of the potential inside of human. The principles of the characteristic education should be publicized and executed in all levels of the society, so that it is able to generate the characteristic behavior for Indonesian people. Likewise, the efforts to realize the characteristic education should also involve the aspect of knowledge, feeling, loving, and acting in daily life in order that it can encourage and advance the Indonesian prosperity optimally.
